Summer Nature Camps

Our camp is designed to encourage wonder and excitement for nature through hands-on activities, games, crafts, and exploration. Campers learn about their environment, gain new skills and develop their confidence by spending time exploring the outdoors.

Ages

Ages 6-10. 
Please note: Per our state license requirements, campers must be 6 years old at the time of their first day of camp. If your child is currently 5 years old but will be turning 6 before their first day of camp, you should be able to complete your registration as normal but can call 720-898-7405 if you have any complications. Campers that will not be 6 by the first day of camp will not be allowed to stay for our camp per state regulations. 

Cost

$350 per camper per (full day) week. Includes all supplies and camp t-shirt.

  • 8:30-9:00 – Drop-Off & Free Play
  • 9:00-9:10 – Welcome & Intro to the Day
  • 9:10-10:05 – Activity 1
  • 10:05-10:30 – Snack & Free-Play
  • 10:30-11:25 – Activity 2
  • 11:25-12:25 – Lunch & Free-Play
  • 12:30-1:30 – Activity 3
  • 1:30-2:30 – Snack & Nature Journals
  • 2:30-2:40 – Clean up
  • 3:00-4:00 – Free-Play & Pick-Up

Activities vary by day and by weekly theme. Free-play may include crafts/coloring, nature games, or outdoor exploration.

Weekly Themes

STEM Science Camp (June 3-7): From the microscopic to the cosmic, investigate the world and beyond through questions, experiments, and observations.

Kid vs. Wild Camp (June 10-14): Intrepid explorers unite! Do you know how to use a map and compass? What about a first aid kit? Learn with us as we discover ways to explore nature and survive the great outdoors, with or without these tools!

Junior Naturalist Camp (June 17-21):  Explore the world around you to become an official Majestic View Junior Naturalist! From birds to bugs, trees to tracks, we’ll spend each day having fun and learning new skills.

Art & Nature Camp (June 24-28): Whether you’re using natural materials to create temporary art or making a painting inspired by nature, it’s time to let your creativity flow!

July 1-5 No Camp

Splish Splash Water Camp (July 8-12): Follow the fascinating journey of water around the world, learn how it is used by plants and animals, explore the park’s lake habitat, and have fun experimenting with the science of water. Come join us for a water-themed week that will end with a splash!

Feathered Friends Camp (July 15-19): Calling all budding bird enthusiasts! From hummingbirds to giant eagles, explore the fascinating world of birds. Bust out those binoculars and soar like a hawk during this week of outdoor fun!

Gardens & Pollinators Camp (July 22-26): Butterflies, bees, beetles, bats, and birds – oh my! Explore the pollinator garden and farm to discover the beauty and importance of animals that make a living visiting flowers!

Kindness Camp (July 29-August 2): Be the rainbow in someone’s cloud! Is your kiddo more on the introspective side? Let them immerse themselves in nature in an intentional week of art, movement, nature journaling, and all things that connect us to each other and the world around us.

Muddy Buddies Wetlands Camp (August 5-9): Get ready to get muddy while we explore wetlands, play in the dirt, and feel the squish of mud beneath our toes!

Refund/Cancellation Policy

  • All cancellation requests received before end of business day on Monday, May 13, 2024, will receive a full refund minus a $50 processing fee.
  • A 50% refund will be given for cancellation requests made between May 13, 2024, and two weeks prior to the start of a registered session.
  • No refund will be given for cancellation requests made within the two weeks prior to the start of a registered session.
  • If for any reason Majestic View Nature Center cancels a camp session, campers will receive a full refund or the opportunity to transfer to another session if space is available.

Scholarships

If you would like to sign your child up for camp but are experiencing financial hardship, please consider applying for a scholarship. To apply, fill out the scholarship application and email it to mcopan@arvada.org. Please note, scholarships are limited.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is your staff to camper ratio? Campers will be supervised at all times by Nature Center Staff. There is an average ratio of 2 teachers for every 10 students.
  • What is your camp structure? Our summer camps are educational, outside, and active programs. Education will be hands-on and engaging, but will require listening, respect, and cooperation by the campers. Educational lessons will be broken up by snack-time, free-time, and other activities. It may be helpful to discuss the educational component with your child before they attend camp to ensure this camp is a good fit.
  • Do you offer any scholarships for low-income families? If you would like to sign your child up for camp but are experiencing financial hardship, please consider applying for a scholarship.
